Sillar Route Tour in Arequipa

Sillar Route Itinerary

• We start the pickup at the cathedral door at the chosen time.
• As the first stop we will visit the Yanahuara viewpoint to see the viewpoint of the same name, built in sillar just like its baroque mestizo‑style church. From this point we will be able to admire the majestic Misti and the White City.
• As the second stop towards the quarry Añashuayco. Here the guide will give us a series of explanations about the sillar extraction process, the stone with which most of the constructions around Arequipa's Plaza de Armas were made. We will also have access to information about the carving, sculpting and megasculpting carried out by the master stonemasons.
• Afterwards, we will go to the Culebrillas ravine, a quarry that is not in operation, but that we can explore for 20 minutes through a small canyon formed by water erosion. At the end of the tour, we will see some petroglyphs that we can admire and photograph while our guide gives us some explanations.
• Then, we will return to Arequipa to finish the tour.
