Tour of the Sillar Route in Arequipa

Itinerary of the Sillar Route

• We will start the pickup at the cathedral door at the chosen time. As the first point, we will visit the Yanahuara viewpoint to see the viewpoint of the same name, built in sillar just like its church of mestizo baroque style.
• From this point, we will be able to appreciate the majestic Misti and the White City. As the second point, we will head to the Añashuayco quarry. Here, the guide will give us a series of explanations about the process of extracting sillar, the stone with which most of the constructions around the Plaza de Armas of Arequipa were made.
• Also, we will have access to information about the carving, cutting, and mega cutting carried out by the master stonemasons. Subsequently, we will go to the Culebrillas ravine, a quarry that is not in operation, but we will be able to walk for 20 minutes through a small canyon formed by water erosion. At the end of the tour, we will see some petroglyphs that we can admire and photograph while our guide gives us some explanations.
• Then, we will return to Arequipa to conclude the tour.
